Limitations on research.

The main, and in many cases the only source of information of early generations, are the registers of baptisms/christenings, marriages and burials kept by Anglican parish churches before the beginning of civil registration in 1837. The earliest registers date from around 1550, most others commence within 150 years of that date. The registers for Langford Budville, where the family tree begins, date from 1537, but marriage records prior to 1607 and between 1623 and 1665 no longer exist in that form (see Addendum to Section 1 of the family tree for marriages in the later period found in "Bishops' transcripts"). Some burial registers from around 1812 are still held or in use by churches concerned, and will not in most cases have been inspected.
